North Florida TPO Seeks Public Input On First Coast Transportation Plans

North Florida TPO / Facebook

In a critical update to the area's long range transit plans, the North Florida TPO is evaluating transportation needs and challenges across Northeast Florida.

The independent regional transportation planning agency is currently working with the Jacksonville Transit Authority and the Florida Department of Transportation to update its "Path Forward 2040" long range transportation plan. Playing a major role in that process are comments from citizens, elected officials, and community and business leaders.

The group recently completed a series of meetings where members of the public could suggest transportation projects needed for the First Coast, including improvements and changes to roads, mass transit and bicycle pathways.

"Cost Feasible" meetings are planned for September 16-23 to discuss which of these projects should be prioritized in their proposed budget.

Melissa Ross discussed these plans with Jeff Sheffield, Executive Director of North Florida TPO, Brad Thoburn, Vice President of Long Range Planning and System Development at JTA, and James Bennett, Senior Engineer at Atkins Global and a consultant for FDOT.
