10/08/15: JTA CEO Nat Ford; ScaleUp North Florida; Salvation Army; David Luckin

We speak with Jacksonville Transportation Authority CEO Nat Ford about the future of the Skyway, updates for the First Coast Flyer rapid bus transit system, and other transportation issues affecting the First Coast.

Small business owners looking to scale up and grow will soon have the opportunity to do just that. ScaleUp North Florida is accepting applications right now for its 2016 program year. The program is designed to create local economic impact by helping small business owners create jobs, increase sales and access capital. We hear more from Jennifer Marko, director of ScaleUp North Florida, and two program participants: Patti Peeples, CEO of Health Economics.com; and Sheryl Taylor Thompson, COO of the Comprehensive Therapy Center of Jacksonville.

The Salvation Army serves thousands of people during the holiday season, and they have a great need for volunteers to help us make that happen. The Salvation Army’s Jacksonville Area Command started taking applications for assistance on October 1st. Major Rob Vincent, Area Commander for the Northeast Florida Salvation Army, joins us.

And WJCT music director and "Electro Lounge" host David Luckin fills in for regular contributor Kerry "The Specktator" Speckman with a look at this weekend's events around town.
