St. Johns County Commissioner and Florida 4th District Congressional candidate Bill McClure appeared Monday with Melissa Ross on First Coast Connect ahead of next week’s primary election.
We also spoke with transgender Jacksonville resident Denise Iondoli who is the subject of the latest video produced by local advocacy group “We Are Straight Allies.”
Bill McClure
McClure said Congress is broken and electing more career politicians won’t fix it. McClure said his focus would be to preserve the presence of the military on the First Coast. McClure has also been vocal in his opposition of the vote in Duval County to extend the 1/2-cent sales tax to pay for Jacksonville’s unfunded pension obligation. He believes there are better ways to pay down the debt.
Denise Iondoli
Iondoli was born John Iondoli. She was raised in a strict Italian-Catholic family in New York. Iondoli is a parent, aunt, sister, small business owner and transgender woman. She spoke about her problems growing up as a man, her decision to change her gender and the impact on her life and family. Iondoli is the subject of the latest video of the advocacy, “We Are Straight Allies,” pushing to get legislation passed protecting the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender community in Jacksonville.
