The SHARE and SEED Academy is performing “The Wiz” on Saturday and we heard about the “Sing Out Loud Festival” kicking off Friday night in St. Augustine.

Our panel included WJCT’s Lyndsey Kilbride; Folio Weekly Editor Claire Goforth; Paula Horvarth of the Florida Times-Union; and analyst John Burr. The panel talked about the state attorney’s office disputing the findings of a Harvard University death penalty study. The report stated Duval County sends a disproportionate number of convicted felons to death row. They also discussed the latest poll from the University of North Florida that shows both State Attorney Angela Corey and Public Defender Matt Shirk in serious reelection trouble. The journalists also discussed the abrupt departure of Hope McMath as executive director of the Cummer Museum.
SHARE and SEED Academy
The SHARE and SEED Academy of the Performing Arts will be presenting the musical “The Wiz” Saturday night at the Ritz Theatre. Academy founder Emelda Kennerly joined Ross to talk about the performance and some of the other activities at the academy.
Sing Out Loud Festival
It’s called the largest free music festival in the history of St. Johns County. More than 100 performers including local and nationally known artists will be heard at the “Sing Out Loud Festival” taking place over the next three weekends at the St. Augustine Amphitheatre.
Ryan Murphy and Aubrey Mulligan with the Amphitheatre spoke with First Coast Connect host Melissa Ross about the event and some of the artists like Brandi Carlile, Indigo Girls and Booker T. Jones who will be appearing on stage.
