Come January, Jacksonville will be represented by two freshmen members of Congress. Jacksonville University political science Professor Emeritus Stephen Baker joined host Melissa Ross to talk about the challenges the area may face by losing so much seniority on Capitol Hill. We heard from Dr. Anthony Magnano, co-director of St. Vincent’s Atrial Fibrillation Institute, about the warning signs of atrial fibrillation and its prevention. Ross also spoke with Dr. KonikaSchallen, the founder of the CMA Center for Aesthetic Medicine about the science of beauty.
Freshmen Congress members
With the retirement of Ander Crenshaw and the defeat of Corrine Brown, Jacksonville will soon have two rookies in Congress. Seniority is very important when it comes to committee assignments and getting federal funding for local projects. Baker spoke about challenges new members of Congress will face in Washington.
September is Atrial Fibrillation Awareness Month. It affects an estimated three million Americans and is the most common type of heart arrhythmia. Magnano spoke about its risk factors like alcohol use, obesity and hypertension and preventative measures.
Aesthetic Medicine
From tattoo removal to intimate wellness treatments aesthetic medicine is a growing field. Schallen is a pioneer in the development and research in aesthetic medicine. She spoke with Ross about her practice and some recent advances.
