Our weekly Media Roundtable featured Andrew Pantazi of the Florida Times-Union; Claire Goforth, editor of Folio Weekly; Tim Gibbons, editor of the Jacksonville Business Journal; and Fred Matthews, formerly of the Examiner. We then heard from Museum spokesman Joe Snowberger and Michael Rothfeld with the Veterans Council of St. Johns County about several events next week heading into Veterans Day to honor First Coast Veterans..We were also joined by spokeswomen Tracy Aquila and Sarah Christian to talk about the annual Signature Chefs Auction to benefit the March of Dimes.

 Media Roundtable

Just days before Election Day, President Barack Obama and Republican nominee Donald Trump appeared before crowds in Jacksonville. The panel discussed the election and the importance of Northeast Florida in deciding who wins the White House. They also talked about the surprise decision by owner Ken Babby to change the name of the Suns baseball team to the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp.

Week of Valor

Jacksonville’s Week of Valor is coming up, leading up to Veterans Day on Nov. 11. Several events to honor our men and women in uniform include a 5K supporting the USS Adams Museum and K9’s for Warriors at the Jacksonville Landing on Sunday. There will also be  Veterans Day parades in Jacksonville and St. Augustine, and a three-day Military Film Festival in St. Augustine, with documentaries featuring veterans from Northeast Florida as well as a concert at the St. Augustine Amphitheater.

Signature Chefs

Jacksonville foodies have an opportunity to enjoy great culinary creations while raising funds to support the March of Dimes during the annual Signature Chefs Auction. It will be Thursday at the Omni Jacksonville Hotel downtown and feature many of the area’s most popular chefs.
