We heard an update on the Zika virus in Georgia with Commissioner of the Georgia Department of Public Health Dr. Patrick O’Neal and Director of Environmental Health Dr. Chris Rustin (37:24), and we heard about a movie that’s being filed in Jacksonville, “I Am Going to Kill Someone This Friday,” with director Durden Godfrey and executive producer Jared Rush (43:47).

Our panel discussed the latest news regarding City Council President Anna Lopez Brosche’s proposal to remove Confederate monuments from publicly owned places. They also discussed the group Empower Jax’s launching a petition drive to place a non-binding question on the ballot in an attempt to overturn this year’s expansion of nondiscrimination laws to LGBT people and whether the Jacksonville Jaguars should sign free agent quarterback Colin Kaepernick.
Zika Virus In Georgia
The Zika Virus has long been a concern in Florida, and it’s a growing concern in Georgia, which has five confirmed cases. All five are people who contracted the disease while traveling elsewhere. But state health officials are reminding people to take precautions, especially during the wet, hot summer months. They say to wear proper clothing and use a strong mosquito spray while outside.
‘I Am Going to Kill Someone This Friday’
A film being shot in Jacksonville has the eye-catching title, “I Am Going to Kill Someone This Friday.” It’s a psychological thriller with undertones addressing issues such as child abuse, toxic relationships and the general psychology of that makes someone do the things they do. Production begins Sept. 8.
