Melissa spoke with local MasterChef Junior finalist Camson Alvey and ahead of next week’s Root Ball to raise funds for Greenscape of Jacksonville we were joined by Executive Director Anna Dooley and ball committee member Robin Patton along with musicians Brendan Doherty and Philip Pan, who will perform there (46:00).

International Women’s Day

March 8 is International Women’s Day, celebrating women’s achievements throughout history and across nations. Events are being held around the world.

In this era of #MeToo and #TimesUp, the day takes on an added context.

Rethreaded is a local nonprofit working to pull women out of sex trafficking. Keen talked about the strides women have made in recent years, but there is still much to be done to fight sex trafficking, reduce the number of women who die in childbirth and get more women elected to public office, she said.

Logistics Conference

Logistics and leadership will take center stage next week on the UNF campus.

The  Coggin College of Business International Business Flagship Program is holding a one-day conference, Value Creation in the Global Economy  looking at the growing logistics market in Jacksonville.

Tickets are free if registered before March 12. For information contact
