FEMA and the National Flood Insurance Program are urging property owners and renters to take steps now to protect their homes before a major storm hits. That includes buying or renewing flood insurance policies. We spoke with David Maurstad, chief executive of the National Flood Insurance Program at FEMA.

Michael Kirk

Michael Kirk has produced, directed and written more than 100 hours of FRONTLINE, the PBS flagship long-form documentary series. Kirk's decades of documentaries include The Choice, a biography program about presdiential candidates, and League of Denial: The NFL’s Concussion Crisis.

Women's Wednesdays

Bestselling author Cara Brookins left a bad relationship. Then, together with her four kids, she built a 3,500-square-foot house using only YouTube videos for guidance.

She documented the experience in the bestselling book, Rise: How a House Built a Family. Brookins is speaking next week in St. Augustine as part of Women’s Wednesdays. Founder and CEO Kelly Youngs joined us with more.
