On today’s First Coast Connect, we discuss the OneJax Humanitarian Awards. The awards recognize “outstanding individuals who have demonstrated an unwavering commitment to our community.”

Guests:

  • Elizabeth Andersen, OneJax CEO.
  • Rhianna Scyster, winner of the 2024 the Acosta-Rua Young Professional Award.
    • If you are looking for the book Rhianna referenced at the end of the interview, it's The Rage of Innocence by Kristin Henning.

Then, we'll welcome our own Dr. Joe Sirven of the Saturday afternoon WJCT program What’s Health Got To Do With It. In his monthly House Call, Sirven will delve into the latest medical headlines and take your health care questions.

And we preview WJCT Public Media's 8th annual “Be My Neighbor Day.” The event May 11 brings together families and community partners for a daylong festival that includes arts and crafts, food trucks and a chance to meet Daniel Tiger.

Guests:

  • Circe LeNoble, grants and education outreach manager at WJCT Public Broadcasting.
  • Karen Feagins, vice president of client and community relations director, PNC North Florida.
