A new champion for racial equity

Stacey Bennett
Audrieanna Burgin, chief executive officer of 904WARD.

What does it mean to lead an organization devoted to ensuring equity and ending racism at a time when words like diversity and inclusion are being purged from government policies? We talk to the incoming chief of 904Ward about balancing strategy and reality as she takes the helm of the influential Jacksonville nonprofit.

Guest:

  • Audrieanna Burgin, CEO of 904Ward.

Then, an effort to literally unearth the past continues Wednesday morning at the Cedar Point North site in the Timucuan Ecological and Historic Preserve under the direction of the University of North Florida’s Anthropology Lab. The dig is part of a student-driven effort to uncover thousands of years of indigenous history at sites in northeast Jacksonville. We get an update on what the teams are learning and what they hope to find next.

Guest:

  • Victoria Hayes, lead researcher, Cedar Point North archaeology project.
  • Chance Courtney-Durrett, UNF archaeology student and dig participant.

And, a murder on a train in a snowstorm. Murder on the Orient Express has all the elements of a classic Agatha Christie whodunnit, including her longest-running character. We talk to the actor playing Hercule Poirot and the team behind a new production at Amelia Community Theatre.

Guests:

  • Daniel Starling, director of Murder on the Orient Express.
  • Joe Zaccaro, actor playing Hercule Poirot.
  • Carlos Semidei, actor playing Constantin Bouc.
  • Callie Ann Maggart, actor playing Countess Andreny.
