6/25/19: Pride Prom; 'Northern Lights' Author; Nonalcoholic Bar Coming To Jax
June is Pride Month and to celebrate it, a pride prom was going to be held at the Willowbranch location of the Jacksonville Public Library on Friday, June 28. But the event has now been canceled by the library due to security concerns.
Nicole White, Executive Director of Unbroken Horizons Scholarship Foundation and entertainer Beatrice Palmer - also known as BeBe Deluxe - joined us with more. Palmer was originally scheduled to perform at the prom.
Cathy Parker is a football coach’s wife at Bartram Trail High School.
She has written a book titled Northern Lights. It's about the true story of how she helped lead the charge in helping a high school in Alaska upgrade its football field.
Parker joined us on Tuesday's First Coast Connect with Melissa Ross to tell us more.
Nonalcoholic bars are gaining in popularity with those who like to drink for the social and taste aspects but prefer to skip the alcohol.
Wildcrafters is looking to meet that need with a new bar that will open later this summer, serving a variety of teas, nonalcoholic craft cocktails, and other concoctions.
Located in a former medical building that is now undergoing extensive renovations at 2105 Park Street, Wildcrafters will offer something you can’t get elsewhere in town.
Lauren Titus, the editor of Edible Northeast Florida, and Yhang Quintero, one of the Owners of Wildcrafters; joined us with more information on the rise in nonalcoholic bar popularity.
