Friday's First Coast Connect with Melissa Ross featured some of the top stories of the week, including:
- More controversy errupts surrounding JEA. This week a petition called “Keep JEA Public,” launched by New North Florida Majority, had more than 600 supporters and City Council debated an emergency resolution that would call for JEA to withdraw plans to privatize. Also, this week we learned the JEA’s CEO inked huge consulting contracts with big banks just one day after the JEA board signed off on privatization.
- The Navy has grounded some 300 Saudi aviation students, including 128 at Naval Station Mayport.
- A fan tries to start a Jaguars boycott on the team's Facebook page.

'I Am We: A Mid-School Year Bash'
I Am We: Mid-School Year Bash is a community outreach event, specifically targeting underserved and underfunded communities, with the agenda of connecting Jacksonville residents to the resources and opportunities available to them to create a positive imprint on our community.
The event will be hosted at MOCA, the Museum of Contemporary Art, on December, 14, from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. Celebrating the mid-school year bash will be MOCA, Feeding Northeast Florida, Ben & Jerry's, Duval Teachers United Union, and other organizations.
There will be an array of free activities and giveaways available to the community, craft classes with Art by Maiya Elaine, and live music by Xavier Nofame Watkins.
