JEA’s board voted unanimously to terminate former GM & CEO Aaron Zahn on Tuesday. Shortly after the vote, Mayor Lenny Curry announced the entire JEA Board of Directors would leave their positions as well.
City Councilman Matt Carlucci was one of the first to call for the end of the privatization of JEA. He came on the show to discuss the recent changes in leadership as well as the call for the city to hire a chief resilience officer.
Virtual Reality In The Classroom
GTM Research Reserve Education Coordinator Josie Spearmen joined us for Going Green. GTM Research Reserve’s education team has been visiting local fourth grade elementary classes since May 2019, conducting a virtual reality (VR) interactive pilot program. The program pairs the Estuaries 101 curriculum with virtual reality technology so the students can experience a realistic firsthand encounter. This program addresses transportation issues schools might have. It also caters to students with disabilities so that all students can experience the estuaries.
Striking Power
Striking Power, which explores the practice of iconoclasm through a collection of works from ancient Egypt, opens at the Cummer Museum of Art & Gardens on Friday, Jan. 31. The museum's chief curator, Holly Keris previewed the exhibition, which also expands on some of the museum’s permanent collections.
