COVID 19; Hospital Workers; Nonprofits; 'McMillions'

WUSF

We began Thursday's program with the latest coronavirus news.

WJCT CEO David McGowan joined us with some thoughts on the crisis, and a reminder that WJCT's radio, TV and digital operations will stay open, continuing to broadcast and stream for the duration.

Hospital Workers

Among the people on the front lines of this crisis are hospital workers. Across the country, they’re raising concerns about the lack of equipment, test kits, their safety, and that of their patients. Michael Sampson is with AFSCME, an employee’s union representing workers at UF Health. He joined us with more.

Nonprofits

Nonprofit organizations are struggling right now. They need help to survive. So, the First Coast Relief Fund is being reactivated to help them - and the entire area - get through the coronavirus outbreak. Michelle Braun, President and CEO of United Way of Northeast Florida explained.

"McMillions"

One streaming option for many while stuck at home is HBO’s McMillions. It tells a fascinating Duval County story. The HBO documentary series takes a look into the big con that allowed one man to rig the results of McDonald’s popular Monopoly game for an entire decade. Chris Graham, a former FBI Supervisory Special Agent who supervised the case and has since retired, joined us with more.
