Campaign signs were scattered outside Precinct 407 in Jacksonville on Tuesday as voters went to the polls for Florida's primary.

We spoke with AG Gancarski of Florida Politics about voter turnout and the results of Tuesday’s Florida primary.

Back To School

Students are heading back to class this week in Duval County, and many teachers have been reluctantly making the choice not to return. Cheryl Dubberly, a veteran Jacksonville music teacher, is one of them, and joined us to share her thoughts and discuss why she, and other teachers, are going this route.

BLM Protests

Four local protestors have reached a settlement agreement with JSO, after they sued the police for unlawful arrest.  They were a part of a group of 48 arrested earlier this summer during protests surrounding the police killing of George Flloyd in Minneappolis.  Per the settlement, JSO also agreed to make changes to how it handles protesters. We spoke with Christina Kittle of the Jacksonville Community Action Committee about her thoughts on the settlement and why she’s calling for more change.

What’s Good Wednesday’s

We take a pause this week to honor WJCT’s Station Manager David Luckin, who launched 89.9’s Electro Lounge program fifteen years ago.  Since then it has grown into a 24/7 HD Radio channel on 89.9 HD4 that also streams in the WJCT app and on WJCT.org as part of the Jacksonville Music Experience.

We also took a look back at the history of the 19th Amendment and gave praise to the Rotary Club of Jacksonville. For more good news, subscribe to our newsletter here.
