COVID In School; Unemployment; Virtual Health Services; What's Good Wednesdays

As the number of COVID-19 cases and deaths continues to rise, the concern for childrens’ safety at schools is growing, as well.

 

More than 12,000 Florida children have been infected with COVID-19 since schools first began opening their doors. Meanwhile, parents and teachers' unions such as the Florida Education Association are demanding more transparency from schools in reporting cases. 

Dr. Mobeen Rathore, a local pediatrician, co-chair of the Baptist Health System Infection Prevention and Control Committee, and past president of the Duval County Medical Society, joined the show.

Unemployment And Covid

As the pandemic continues to affect the economy, many people are still struggling to find work. With unemployment in Florida at 7%,a number of resources might help people get back to work. Ron Whittington ofCareerSource Northeast Florida joined us with his tips.

Health Concerns

Does this sound like you or someone you know? You're concerned about your mental or physical health, but you're not yet comfortable seeing a doctor in person during the pandemic. That's why many health programs have been going virtual. Tonia Harris, executive director at the Northeast Florida Area Health Education Center, joined us.

“drive in theatre” art exhibition is coming to Jacksonville on Friday evening. The Creatives, a local artist collective, is hosting this one-night event called ArtWork(ers) United at the University of North Florida, Parking Lot 18.  One of the organizers, Jenny Hager, joined us.

  • Famed cartoonist Ron Campbell, once an animator on the Beatles' Yellow Submarine and director for The Beatles Saturday morning cartoon show, comes to town this weekend. He will be at Gallery725in Jacksonville Beach this Friday through Sunday to mark the 55th anniversary of the debut of The Beatles saturday morning TV cartoon series on September 25, 1965.
