Gov. Ron DeSantis has focused on vaccinating Florida’s seniors, but on Tuesday, DeSantis announced he will expand the vaccination’s eligibility requirements to include teachers and law enforcement officers ages 50 and up.

North Florida Land Trust
The North Florida Land Trust, a local organization, has been successfully implementing its mission to conserve environmentally sensitive property from development. Jim McCarthy, the trust’s president, joined us to explain how, and update us on the group’s latest efforts.

- “The 400 Project - Honoring the Enslaved Voices of Kingsley Plantation” by Groundwork Jacksonville and their Green Team Youth Corps. The project debuted during the annual Kingsley Heritage Celebration, which started virtually last weekend and continues this weekend.
- A 15-year-old Springfield entrepreneur, Christianna Alexander is making headlines with her company, Sweet Christi’s. She creates colorful soaps and body products in the shapes of pastries, sweets and milkshakes.
- Since the COVID-19 pandemic began, the Ravens of Elijah Food Ministries in South Georgia has held drive-through food giveaways every Friday afternoon, giving out about 10,000 pounds of food to over 300 families each week. President and pastor Carl Holland joined us with details.
- A free, four-week outdoor concert series arrives in Jacksonville’s Riverfront this spring. Jax River Jams will feature local and national artists, along with an artist’s market, food trucks and some tasty local craft brews.
- Stayin’ Alive, One Night of the Bee Gees, a special tribute performance comes to the Times-Union Center Thursday night, Feb. 24. The show features a vocal trio that captures the beats of all the Bee Gees hits. Performer Todd Sharman gave us a preview. Tickets are available on the FSCJ Artist Series website.
