VP Harris Visits Jacksonville; Anti-Riot Bill; Civilized Coffee; 'A World Distanced'

Vice President Kamala Harris stopped in Jacksonville Monday, visiting both this city’s FEMA vaccination site and Feeding Northeast Florida, where she took part in a roundtable about food insecurity.  

Feeding Northeast Florida President and CEO Susan King and City Council Member Joyce Morgan, who serves on the council's Food Desert Committee, both participated in the conversation with Harris. They joined us with details.  

Freedom Of Speech

The state of Florida has an anti-riot bill making its way through the Florida Legislature, which some say violates the First Amendment because of what many see as its potential to restrict peaceful protests Hillsborough County State Attorney Andrew Warren joined us with his take on the bill.  

Civilized Coffee 

Jacksonville-based Civilized Coffee has teamed up with Dallas Mavericks Owner and Shark Tank Investor Mark Cuban and his company Three Commas to create a new line of Organic Colombian Coffee and Decaf Coffee. Mark Patterson, founder and president of Civilized Coffee, joined us with more.  

A Pandemic Play

A new play presented by FSCJ Dramaworks will have a special live performance this weekend.  A World Distanced will showcase monologues and more depicting the pandemic during the past year. Writer and professor Tim Gilmore, director Ken McCulough, and performers Autumn Franks and Alan Melon joined us to explain what the audience will experience.
