JEA is launching an internal investigation into inappropriate emails circulated by its employees. The emails surfaced at the same time the federal government is looking into Jacksonville’s public utility for alleged racial discrimination in its hiring practices.
USDA Recognizes Jacksonville’s Community Gardens As National Model
Thirty three community gardens stretch from western Duval County to the beaches. The University of Florida Duval County Extension Office either manages gardens or helps community organizations, including churches and nonprofits, with planting, training and outreach. It directly oversees the operations of eight larger gardens throughout Jacksonville.
Single-Gender Charter Schools Closing This Month
Parents of children attending two single-gender charter schools were told they will close over the December break due to lack of enrollment and funding.
Holiday Shopping Prediction: Retail Sales Up 4 Percent In Florida
Florida retail sales are projected to be 4 percent higher this holiday season than last, which is expected to outpace the national average of between 3.3 percent and 3.5 percent growth.
