Jacksonville Sheriff Part Of Guest Lecture Series Tonight At JU

Jacksonville Sheriff Mike Williams will be speaking at Jacksonville University tonight.

The school’s Public Policy Institute is hosting Williams as part of its classroom guest speaker series.

“The sheriff, I believe, will be addressing a wide range of criminal justice issues— everything from juvenile justice to potential homicide cases to the crime rate here in Jacksonville,” said Rick Mullaney, Public Policy Institute director.

He said the discussion might also include topics ranging from transparency to new technology, but speakers have the discretion to talk about issues they think are most important at the time.

Mullaney said past speakers this year included Sen. Aaron Bean, R-Fernandina Beach; Lori Boyer, Jacksonville City Council president; and Matt Carlucci, chair of the Florida Commission on Ethics.

The lecture starts at 6 p.m. in JU’s Davis College of Business, room 128. It’s open to the general public but an RSVP is required and can be found on the event’s Facebook page.
