The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office has made an arrest in the shooting death of 25-year-old Christopher Bing on August 31, 2017, the Sheriff’s Office announced Wednesday morning.
Homicide Lieutenant Craig Waldrup said officers learned about the shooting at Kings Ridge Apartments through its ShotSpotter gunfire-detection system.
“Nearby patrol officers were dispatched to the location of the shooting due to the proximity indicated by the ShotSpotter system,” he said in a news conference our partner News4Jax streamed.
The system showed the shooting occurred at 9:52 p.m. and multiple rounds were fired with a high-capacity weapon.
“It was later determined the weapon was a 762 rifle,” he said.
Waldrup said detectives learned the suspect, 27-year-old Germaine Dubose, was involved in an ongoing dispute that led to the shooting.
Dubose was arrested Monday and charged with second-degree murder, as well as attempted murder for the shooting of a second man during the same incident.
Waldrup says Dubose has not confessed to the crimes.
