The Music Of Motown For Father’s Day at Rhythm Factory

Jessica Palombo

If your Dad is a big Motown fan, here’s an idea for Father’s Day: Dinner and a show featuring some of the greatest hits from the Motown era.

Founder and CEO Darryl Reuben Hall and performer Akia Uwanda talked about the upcoming event this Sunday on Friday’s First Coast Connect.

The music revue called the Music of Motown is being presenting by Stage Aurora at the Rhythm Factory this Sunday.

“Father’s should be celebrated, and it has made me reflect on my childhood. So I thought it would be a great combination to highlight it with food,” said Hall as to how he came up with the idea.

The Music of Motown features music of the The Supremes, The Four Tops, The Temptations, Marvin Gaye, Smokey Robinson, Jackson 5, Martha and the Vandellas and many others. It also has dazzling choreography, authentic costumes, and stunning vocal performances.

“I grew up with it in my home. That is my foundation,” said Uwanda.

Tay’s Homestyle Cooking will be catering dinner for The Music of Motown. Tay is also the Executive Chef for the PGA Tour, according to Hall.

Dinner will include Baked Zesty Rosemary Chicken, Baked Mac N Cheese, Veggie Rice, Italian Green Beans, Dinner Rolls, and Dessert.

The Music of Motown will take place at the Rhythm Factory located at 9501 Arlington Expressway on Sunday, June 17 at 3 p.m.
