Dr. Diana Greene has been on the job for a month now as Duval County's new superintendent, coming to Jacksonville after a stint leading the school system in Manatee County, Florida.
There, she improved academic performance from a “C” to a “B” grade from the state and raised the district’s reserve fund and credit rating. She also convinced the voters in Manatee County to approve a millage increase for the schools.

Greene said she’s creating a culture she calls Team Duval to get everyone on board with supporting excellence in local education.
“We just need to get the word out, we need to share what’s happening in our school district, so that we can attract students that live in Duval County but attend school in another district- to attract them to come back to Duval County Public Schools.”
Greene said school security is also a top priority for her and her staff, as students head back to class later this month.
