60-Foot Electronic Sign Next To Daily’s Place Takes Shape

Construction is well underway for new a 60-foot-6-inch tall digital marquee next to Daily’s Place amphitheater along Gator Bowl Boulevard.

Our Jacksonville Daily Record news partner reported in April that the cost of the sign is estimated at about $650,000.

SMG, the company that manages the city’s sports and entertainment venues, will use the sign to advertise events at TIAA Bank Field, Daily’s Place amphitheater, the Dream Finders Home Flex Field at Daily’s Place, Jacksonville Veterans Memorial Arena and the Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville.

The double-facing will be seen by pedestrians and motorists traveling along north and southbound Gator Bowl Boulevard in the area.

Also Thursday, a survey crew was out on Gator Bowl Boulevard placing survey flags under the downtown Hart Expressway ramp system as the city proceeds with Mayor Lenny Curry’s plan to demolish the ramp system to make way for future development proposed by Jaguars owner Shad Khan.

On Tuesday the Jacksonville City Council approved a $1.3 billion budget  that includes $25 million to demolish elevated roadways connected to the Hart Bridge, which lead traffic in and out of downtown.

Our Jacksonville Daily Record news partner also reported the project includes reconfiguring Gator Bowl Boulevard. The city has a $12.5 million commitment from the state of Florida and intends to match that funding.
