A Quinnipiac poll released Tuesday showed Gillum – who is Tallahassee’s mayor -  with a 6-point lead over DeSantis – a former Northeast Florida Congressman, in the increasingly tight race to become Florida’s next governor.

As the candidates head into the debate, DeSantis picked up a wave of law enforcement endorsements Tuesday, including one from Jacksonville Sheriff Mike Williams, while Gillum faced renewed questions over an FBI corruption investigation after his former associate released records Tuesday.

The debate has been organized by the Florida Press Association and Leadership Florida, a group founded by the state Chamber of Commerce.
