Bonelli Enterprises S.E., which seeks permits to open a window-making factory in Northwest Jacksonville, appears to be the code-named Project Glass.
Our Jacksonville Daily Record news partner reports Project Glass, whose corporate name was not identified in city legislation for incentives, proposes a 135-job manufacturing plant for home improvement products.
Bonelli, based in South San Francisco, is a subsidiary of Pella Corp., a privately held company that makes windows and doors.
Bonelli seeks to build-out 72,102 square feet of space at 8291 Forshee Drive in Westside Industrial Park, according to a building permit application.
“Bonelli Enterprises S.E. will use the space as a manufacturing facility for windows,” says the project description, adding that 13,292 square feet will be used for light assembly.
Tenant Contractors Inc. is the contractor for the $72,000 project. The permit for the racking system will be completed separately.
Project Glass was scheduled for City Council approval Tuesday night.
The project proposes to create 135 jobs at an average annual wage of $46,472 by year-end 2023.
It proposes a capital investment of $7 million in manufacturing, equipment, furniture and real estate purchase and improvements.
Project Glass was described as an established company looking for a Southeastern U.S. location where it can manufacture and distribute its products. It is considering leasing a 70,000-square-foot space in an existing building, according to the legislative fact sheet.
It seeks a Qualified Target Industry Tax Refund of $5,000 per job, or up to $675,000, payable over eight years starting in 2020.
The city’s 20 percent portion is up to $135,000 and the state’s part is $540,000.
A woman answering the phone at Bonelli’s offices said no one who could comment was available. Pattillo Industrial Real Estate, the landlord at Westside Industrial Park, declined comment.
The building plans show Bonelli will lease within the 158,529-square-foot multitenant Building 31.
The architect is Atlanta-based Nelson.
