High school football is a big deal on the First Coast, and this year will bring the sport right into fans' living rooms.
WJCT News partner News4Jax and 92.5 FM/1010XL will be broadcasting 10 straight hours of live football matchups from the Bolles School on San Jose Boulevard on Saturday, Aug. 24.
Called the Bold City Showcase, the triple header will feature:
- Lee High School vs. Bartram Trail High School (1 p.m.)
- Atlantic Coast High School vs. Mandarin High School (4 p.m.)
- University Christian School vs. The Bolles School ( 7:00 p.m.)
"Celebrating these athletes and their families is going to be a wonderful day for our community,” said Bob Ellis, General Manager, WJXT Channel 4 and CW17 in an email to WJCT News.
The event is being produced in partnership with Airstream Ventures, which is the organization behind a local high school platform called High School 9:12.
Airstream Ventures is headed by Alan Verlander, who was previously the Jacksonville Sports Council’s chief operating officer.
The day kicks off with a Fan Fest at 11:30 a.m., followed by a Countdown to Kickoff show at noon.
The organizers say the fan experience will be taken to a collegiate level with reserved club seats available and an air-conditioned VIP tent for $30. General admission tickets will be $10, which includes entry to all three games.
