First Coast Area School Districts And Colleges Announce Closures As Dorian Approaches

Most First Coast area schools will be closed through at least Wednesday. Here’s a county-by-county breakdown:

Duval County Public Schools will be closed Tuesday, September 3 and Wednesday, September 4.

District leaders are continuing to compare notes and stay in close contact with the Duval County Emergency Operations Center, district spokeswoman Laureen Ricks wrote in an email to WJCT News.

Duval’s school district has also set up a web page that students and parents can monitor at https://dcps.duvalschools.org/dorian

All Clay County District Schools will also be closed Tuesday, September 3 and Wednesday, September 4, according to Clay schools spokeswoman Nicole Young.

St. Johns and Nassau counties have also announced their public schools will be closed through Wednesday, September 4.

Florida State College of Jacksonville has canceled classes through at least Wednesday, September 4, according to spokeswoman Jill Johnson while University of North Florida spokeswoman Joanna Norris said UNF classes would be cancelled through at least Tuesday.

Edward Waters College and Jacksonville University both announced they would also close classes through at least Tuesday as well.
