Public Celebration Of Life Planned For Former Jacksonville Mayor Jake Godbold

A public celebration of former Jacksonville Mayor Jake Godbold’s life and legacy will be held on Thursday, February 20, at 10 a.m. at the Prime Osborn Convention Center.

Mr. Godbold passed away Thursday at age 86. He served as Jacksonville’s mayor from 1978 to 1987.

Family spokesman and longtime friend Mike Tolbert announced the celebration of life, writing, “Jake would want us to restore the city’s spirit and keep moving forward.”

The public celebration of life is being organized by Godbold’s family and a committee of friends, with funding from private donations.
