Gas prices dipped to $1.49 a gallon for regular over the weekend at this Jacksonville gas station on Belfort Road. This photo was taken several weeks ago when the price also dipped to $1.49 at the Panda Express.

The Jacksonville area continues to have some of the cheapest gas in the state.

According to AAA – The Auto Club, the average price for a gallon of regular on the First Coast is around $1.62, while drivers in the West Palm Beach area are paying the highest gas prices in the state at around $1.95.

A check of WJCT's gas prices page, which is updated by Gas Buddy, shows prices had dropped below $1.40 at several Jacksonville stations Monday afternoon.

At one point Monday, the Shell station at 240 East 20th Street was selling regular for $1.25 a gallon.

Statewide, the average price at the pump dropped a little more than 3 cents a gallon to $1.78 over the past week.
