A coalition of African Methodist Episcopal churches in Jacksonville is offering free rides to the polls for people on the north and west sides of the city.
The AME Ministers Alliance says the service is a response to the Duval County Supervisor of Elections’ discontinuing an early voting site at Edward Waters College.
They’re calling it “Tote to Vote”.
Pastor Mark Griffin, head of the AME Ministers Alliance, says drivers will pick people up at their door, wait while they vote then take them home again.

“Our dispatching staff will be monitoring the various locations so that that van or bus travel will go to the location that seems to have the shortest line.”
Griffin says riders must wear a face mask and answer a few COVID-19 screening questions before they can get in the vehicle.
The service starts Friday and will be offered through the end of early voting in Duval County, on November 1.
