Public Hearing Is Tuesday at 4PM For San Juan Ave. Changes

RUSTY CLARK / FLICKR COMMONS

A public hearing about safety improvements on the Westside’s San Juan Avenue is being hosted Tuesday, Jan. 12, by the Florida Department of Transportation.

The meeting will preview two upcoming changes.

The section of San Juan between U.S. 17 and Herschel Street will be narrowed from three lanes to two, in an effort to reduce the number of crashes.

The department also wants to close part of San Juan near the Noble House Assisted Living Facility to finish adding a crosswalk.

The hearing is from 4 to 6 p.m. Staff will be answering questions online and by phone at (914) 614-3221.

People attending the GoToWebinar virtual meeting should use access code: 673-655-125. The FDOT has advised that the virtual meeting software is not supported on Internet Explorer so IE users should plan on using an alternate web browser such as Chrome, Edge or Firefox.

Virtual attendees should register in advance for the meeting here.

People who can’t attend virtually can visit in person at the transportation department’s Urban Office Training Center at 2198 Edison Avenue, which is west of Downtown Jacksonville.
