Monday, Feb. 1, marks the start of the city administering second doses of coronavirus vaccines to people who have received their first shots at the Lane Wiley and Mandarin senior center sites, which no longer provide first doses.
Patients will receive reminder phone calls the day before their second dose and will need to bring identification and the shot record they received at their first appointment.
To ensure social distancing and prevent patients waiting in long lines, the city has arranged for patients to arrive during specific time frames 21 days after their first dose, according to the first letters of their last name.
Those windows are as follows:
- Last names beginning with A through D: between 9 and 10 a.m.
- Last names beginning with E through H: between 10 and 11 a.m.
- Last names beginning with I through L: between 11 a.m. and 12 p.m.
- Last names beginning with M through P: between 12 and 1 p.m.
- Last names beginning with Q through T: between 1 p.m. and 2 p.m
- Last names beginning with U, V or W: between 2 pm and 3 p.m.
- Last name beginning with X, Y or Z: between 3 p.m. and 4 p.m.
Anyone who is not able to arrive in their allotted time is encouraged to arrive between 4 and 5 p.m.
Meanwhile, WJCT News partner News4Jax reports the first public recipients of vaccines at the state-run Prime Osborn Convention Center will begin returning for a second shot Monday.
Like the senior centers, the convention center vaccination site is no longer providing first doses of the vaccine, but, if you got your first shot at the convention center, return there 28 days later at the same time you had your first appointment at the convention center to receive the second dose.
Between the three sites, about 2,000 people are expected to receive their second doses each day this week, according to News4Jax.
