Jacksonville’s Museum of Science and History (MOSH) is planning to move to a bigger, more resilient home. The MOSH sits on the Southbank of Downtown, next to Friendship Fountain.  The museum has been raising millions of dollars to build a new facility on the other side of the St. Johns River.

CEO Bruce Fafard said Tuesday on First Coast Connect with Melissa Ross that the current plan calls for a 130,000-square-foot museum to be built on the Northbank.

“[It] gives us the capability to lay out the museum in a much more visitor friendly way to engage our visitors, to draw them into the learning that we engage in here, and so it’s really going to make a huge difference.”

Fafard said being adjacent to the sports and entertainment district should draw more visitors to MOSH.

The museum has almost reached the $31 million mark in its “Genesis” capital campaign.

The entire interview with Fafard is available on Tuesday’ First Coast Connect with Melissa Ross, which encores Tuesday at 8 on WJCT News 89-9.
