The Naval Air Station Pensacola-based Blue Angels flight exhibition team are cleared for takeoff on a new specialty license plate that’s been delivered to tax collector offices and license plate agencies statewide.

The Blue Angels have a long history with Jacksonville. The team was originally formed in Jacksonville, with their first demonstration flight on June 15, 1946, at NAS Jacksonville, according to the Angels’ history page.

Floridians who purchased presale vouchers for the specialty plate are now able to redeem them at their local tax collector office or license plate agency, and those who wish to purchase the new specialty plate may do so at their local office.

The Florida Legislature approved the specialty license plates during the 2020 session, and the presale process began in October 2020.

The revenue collected annually from the sale of the Blue Angels specialty license plate will be distributed to the nonprofit Naval Aviation Museum Foundation to fund maintenance, programs, marketing and projects, including the National Naval Aviation Museum and the National Flight Academy in Pensacola.

Here’s a complete list of Florida’s specialty license plates.
