The St. Simons Pier is getting a makeover that is resulting in some closures.
Glynn County told WJCT News in an email that the pier’s wooden fender system is being rebuilt.
In order to store materials being used in the reconstruction, the eastern side of the pier has been closed and will remained closed until the construction is completed.
In addition, the entire pier will be closed weekday nights from 9 p.m. until 6 a.m. from August 23 through September 3 to replace the vinyl soffit material over the walkway.
