Test positivity fell to 2.4% in Duval County the first week of November.

The number of COVID cases continues to fall in Duval County. The latest data from the state Department of Health show 308 new cases countywide last week, and just a 2.4% testing positivity rate — down from a peak of almost 27% at the end of July.

However, Duval County hasn’t hit the CDC's threshold for low transmission yet. That will happen when there are fewer than 10 cases per 100,000 people. Last week’s rate was 30 cases per 100,000.

For Duval’s moderate transmission level, the CDC's guidance is that unvaccinated people still wear masks indoors. Neighboring Nassau County still has a high COVID transmission rate, with 60 cases per 100,000 residents last week.

Meanwhile, the vaccination rate for people 12 and older remains almost unchanged in Duval. Just 64 percent of that group is vaccinated against COVID.
