JAX Chamber President Daniel Davis officially entered the race for Jacksonville mayor by filing Thursday as a candidate after raising millions of dollars he can use for a run in the 2023 election.
Davis, a Republican, has been widely expected to run for mayor. He has raised about $4.3 million since January 2021 through his political committee Building a Better Economy.
"I'll take on the toughest challenges and seize our biggest opportunities because the hard-working people of Jacksonville deserve the same chance I had to succeed in this great city," Davis said in a statement announcing his candidacy.
