Florida Health Dept. Hosting Town Hall Meetings On Healthcare Issues

Jacksonville Urban League

The Florida Health Department is hosting town hall meetings across Northeast Florida this month to give residents a chance to discuss healthcare issues.

The information gathered at these meetings is part of the Community Health Needs Assessment the state conducts every three years.

Duval County Health Department spokesman Charles Griggs says the assessment allows hospitals to improve strategic planning specific to their region.

“The community is very diverse. That’s why there are a series of meetings are being held,” Griggs said. “Some people in some areas of town or in other rural areas of town of the First Coast may have different health care concerns than people in more populated areas.”

The Health Department is working with Baptist, St. Vincent's, Mayo, Brooks, Wolfson and UF Health on the project.

The first town hall will be at the Jacksonville Urban League on West Union Street Thursday.
