Arlington Man Arrested In Westside Love Triangle Shooting

Jacksonville Sheriff's Office

A love triangle gone wrong left one Jacksonville man dead and another behind bars Thursday.

According to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, a woman called police twice on Thursday first to report that her husband had slapped her— and again to report that he had killed her boss with whom she was having an affair.

JSO Lt. Rob Schoonover says they arrested the woman’s husband, 30-year-old Jason Franklin late Friday night at the couple's Arlington home.

“Investigation revealed that after getting involved in a domestic incident with his wife he responded over to the Westside and confronted Edward Michael Gonzales and shot him and killed him,” Schoonover said.

According to the police report, when the suspect was questioned by JSO investigators he said, “I was just trying to scare him and I got hit with the bat and just kept pulling the trigger.”

Franklin has been charged with the murder and has been admitted to a pre-trial facility.
