ORIGINAL REPORT BELOW:

One person has died after a train derailment early Thursday morning in Sanford, our news partner News4Jax reports.

Investigators say the rail cars were being relocated at the Sunrail station on State Road 46 near Sanford around 6:40 a.m. of the accident. Officials say the victim was buried in gravel when several train cars derailed.

Seminole County Sheriff's officials confirmed there was one fatality in the incident, according to the Florida Highway Patrol, but workers continue to search for the victim.  Heavy equipment was being used to remove the rubble.

The incident occurred next to a rail yard where trains are maintained.
