Florida Department of Transportation crews are putting the finishing touches on a new off-ramp connecting the southbound lanes of Interstate 95 to Atlantic Boulevard near downtown.

DOT spokesman Ron Tittle says the plan is to open the new ramp to traffic on Monday unless crews can get everything done earlier.

“It looks like, weather permitting, because they’ve got to put striping down tonight. They’re grooving and painting and adding some asphalt in there right now,” Tittle said. “So it could be, if the weather cooperates, that we could have that open by 6 a.m. Saturday.”

Tittle says the new ramp is about a quarter-mile past exit 350 to San Marco Boulevard.

It’s part of the I-95 Overland Bridge replacement project that began in early 2013 and should wrap up late next year.

The $227 million project is designed to improve traffic flow on I-95 between the Fuller Warren Bridge and Emerson Street.
