Increased Security At Thursday's Jags Game; Officials Say 'Just Have Fun'
Jacksonville Sheriff Mike Williams and Mayor Lenny Curry say security will increase at Thursday night’s nationally televised Jaguars game, following attacks on Paris last week.
Williams says fans can expect to notice more officers, but that’s about it.
“We’re going to hold off on specifics,” Williams said. “I mean it’s additional officers, it’s additional pieces of equipment, that type of thing. But again, it’s just kind of a ramp-up — if you will — of the things that we normally do at the games, just more of it.”
Williams says there are no known threats to Jacksonville.
Curry says Jags fans should just concentrate on having fun.
“I will tell you that when I woke up Friday morning I never expected that I would be having a conversation with the sheriff about terrorism,” Curry said. “And a top priority is making sure that the people of Jacksonville are safe and any and all threats that come with that.”
Curry also predicts the Jags with beat the Tennessee Titans 24-to-14.
