The Florida Supreme Court has denied Florida Senate Democrats’ request to force the House of Representatives to get back to Tallahassee and finish the lawmaking session.
n a unanimous ruling, the justices said requiring the lower chamber to continue working until the end of the day Friday would provide no real benefit.
However, in a separate opinion, five justices said they agree with that the House of Representatives violated the state Constitution by adjourning on Tuesday without the Senate’s permission.
The Legislature will now have to return for a special session in May or June to fulfill its constitutional duty of passing a budget before the new fiscal year begins in July.
