Gov. Ron DeSantis announced this month that his 41-year old wife, Casey DeSantis, received a breast cancer diagnosis.
The governor urged Floridians to follow their doctors’ recommendations aimed at detecting or battling the disease. At the peak of COVID-19 last year, the National Cancer Institute reported a 90% decline in testing and screening procedures. They call it a “cancer screening crisis.”
In an effort to help prevent people from missing their screenings, theAmerican Cancer Society launched a “Return to Screening Initiative.”

Cancel culture
Flagler College in St. Augustine named former mayor and UNF President John Delaney as its new president. Prior to his appointment, Delaney led the school on an interim basis. His son Bill Delaney edits and publishes WJCT news partner The Jaxson. They come together to debate and reflect on “cancel culture” and other pertinent social topics.
