Policy Matters: Bill Scheu

Montreat Conference Center

Pension reform is among the most pressing issues in Jacksonville's current policy discussions.

This week saw two key developments in the city's pension conversation: The University of North Floridapollshowing a dearth of support for increased contributions to the city from JEA (as proposed by Mayor Alvin Brown) and the recommendation of the city's Retirement Reform Task Force to let the voters choose between tax hike options to pay the $1.7 billion obligation to the Jacksonville Police and Fire Pension Fund.

Bill Scheu, law partner with the Rogers, Towers law firm and the chairman of the Jacksonville Retirement Reform Task Force spoke with Rick Mullaney on Policy Matters about the city's pension challenges and the plan submitted by the task force to the mayor this week.
