Baymeadows Embassy Suites Offers Free Rooms To COVID-19 Medical Staff

The Embassy Suites hotel on Baymeadows Road is making a floor of rooms available free-of-charge during the month of April to local medical staff treating coronavirus patients.

Embassy Suites parent company Hilton and American Express recently launched a nationwide program providing up to a million free stays for frontline medical personnel.

Angela Phillips with Embassy Suites Jacksonville said most of those rooms will likely go to coronavirus hot spots like New York City, so her hotel wanted to take care of local doctors and nurses.

“We have been getting some phone calls from people who are looking for options. You know, can they stay closer to the hospital where they’re at or are they able to just come and rest so they don’t have to go home to their families.”

Phillips said at least 30 rooms are being set aside for frontline medical personnel, and that she will personally make the reservations for them.

In addition to cleaning the hotel’s public areas more frequently, Phillips said the hotel will give the rooms used by medical staff a deep clean 24-hours after a guest checks out to keep the house-cleaning staff as safe as possible.
