Business Brief: Hightide Burrito Co. To Open Westside Location & Other Restaurant Notes

Hightide Burrito Co. intends to open at the Sadler Point Marine Center at 4591 Lakeside Drive, joining The Loop Pizza Grill and Synergy Studios in the Ortega and Avondale area development in West Jacksonville.

Our Jacksonville Daily Record news partner reports the city is reviewing a permit application for a $450,000 build-out for a restaurant that includes an inside and outside bar. Work is planned on 3,744 square feet of inside space and 2,400 square feet outside. The contractor is Cesery Properties Inc.

Hightide Burrito’s first restaurant is at 1538 Hendricks Ave. in the San Marco area. Alejandro Juarez is the owner and creator of Hightide Burrito, described on its website as a relaxed restaurant serving up fresh Beach Mex — authentic Mexican recipes combined “with the vibe and flavors of Florida to create an original menu.”

Juarez said Wednesday the 150-seat Sadler Point location could open in April or May.

He said the San Marco restaurant has been open about 10 years. The Sadler Point location is at Sadler Point Marina across the St. Johns River. “For a second location, it was a good spot for us,” he said.

“I think it was time.”

Restaurant Notes

• Taco Bell intends to demolish its restaurant at 13160 Atlantic Blvd. and rebuild one the same size, according to a mobility fee application. The mobility fee calculation and concurrency reservation certificates cover construction of a 1,980-square-foot restaurant on 0.79 acres. Atlantic Bells II LLC of Clearwater is the owner and Cornelison Engineering & Design Inc. of Zephyrhills is the agent. No mobility fee is calculated because the replacement is the same size. The existing restaurant was built in 1992.

• St. Johns County approved a permit for Sonny’s BBQ to remodel the interior of its restaurant at 2720 Florida 16 in St. Augustine at a cost of $500,000. It’s a 5,851-square-foot project.

• McDonald’s intends to renovate its St. Johns Town Center restaurant at 4587 Town Center Parkway at a construction cost of $325,000. Southland Construction Inc. of Apopka is the contractor for the 3,502-square-foot project, which includes replacing the drive-thru equipment.

• Marco’s Pizza applied for a certificate of use at 11406 San Jose Blvd. in the Mandarin Oaks Shopping Center.
