A judge set the trial date Tuesday for the two people acused of murdering Dan Markel.

Sigfredo Garcia and Katherine Magbanua are scheduled to stand trial for Markel's murder on Sep. 23, 2019.

Prosecutors expect the trial to take three weeks, but defense attorneys argue it could take four to six weeks.

Garcia and Magbanua are charged with first degree murder, solicitation to commit murder and conspiracy to commit murder in the murder-for-hire plot. Magbanua is believed to have coordinated the hit.
